The year was coming to an end. My friend was driving to work the morning Spotify users started posting their Spotify Year in Review on their Instagram stories. My friend is borderline stuck in the Apple ecosystem and so as an Apple evangelist, he wouldn’t “betray” Apple Music.
He does wish, on the other hand, that Apple Music offered its users insights into their yearly listening habits. While driving, he expressed his desire to join the crowd (Spotify users) and be able to accurately know the music and artists that kept him entertained through the year; and to also share this with his friends.
Barack Obama had just began his virtual book (A Promised Land) tour. He shared his top 2020 lists of songs, books, movies and TV shows that kept him inspired. I look forward to reading his book this year.
When Spotify notified me to view my Year in Review, I was curious and some of what I discovered was sort of surprising. One being that Drake is not my favourite artist. I usually place J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar over Drake when that conversation arises. On the other hand, I discovered that my listening taste has changed from 2019.
Here’s my 2020 in review according to Spotify.
